The shopping center "Spice Home" has finalized an agreement with the world's leading multi-category sports goods brand "Decathlon" to open a new store within the center's premises. Along with the store's opening, more than 1 million euros are planned to be invested in the shopping center's infrastructure and environment, marking the beginning of an ambitious transformation of "Spice Home."
The "Decathlon" store, featuring an impressive 3,000 m² retail space, is set to open in mid-2025 and will become one of the key tenants of "Spice Home," significantly expanding the center’s offerings and strengthening its position in the market.
In addition to the store opening, the shopping center plans extensive improvements to its infrastructure and surrounding environment. The investment, exceeding one million euros, will be allocated for building and expanding parking facilities, creating bicycle racks, and other environmental enhancements. A key highlight of the project will be the creation of a new, modern sports field, which will serve as an attractive space for active leisure and recreation for residents of the surrounding area. These upgrades are part of "Spice’s" long-term strategy aimed at creating a diverse, convenient, and accessible environment for every visitor.
"The opening of the “Decathlon” store and the planned investments in “Spice Home’s” infrastructure will make the shopping center even more attractive to our customers and local residents. These improvements will enhance the center’s offerings while significantly improving accessibility and creating a modern, convenient environment that meets customer needs. Our goal is not only to strengthen the trust of loyal visitors but also to attract new customers by offering an exceptional shopping and leisure experience," says Iveta Priedīte, Board Member and Managing Director of "Spice" and "Spice Home."
This goal is perfectly complemented by the Decathlon philosophy, which is focused on promoting accessibility to sports for everyone. “Since the opening of the first store, our goal has been to be the first choice for customers when purchasing sports goods in Riga and in the future – throughout Latvia. Thanks to our wide range and affordable prices in all sports goods segments, we allow everyone to discover the magic of sports and learn more and more new sports. We are also very pleased that this will be the first store in the Baltic States to be designed based on the concept of Decathlon’s new visual identity. The new identity was presented this spring – a new logo, colors, and a more modern store layout, which places great emphasis on improving the shopping experience and convenience for our customers, sports enthusiasts,” says Aija Klakocka, manager of Decathlon Riga.
The successful execution of this agreement was facilitated by the international real estate consulting company “Colliers Baltics,” which provided professional support in establishing collaboration between “Decathlon” and “Spice Home.”
“We were pleased to help “Decathlon” to open its second store in Latvia, located in the popular shopping center “Spice Home”. This marks as one the largest retail deals in Latvia in 2024 and highlights “Decathlon's” continued commitment to growth in the region. Following the success of their first store on the right bank of the river Daugava, opened in 2020, it’s exciting to see the brand further develop and expand its presence in Latvia, opening second store on the left bank of the river, bringing high-quality sports and lifestyle products closer to even more customers,” adds Jevgenija Kiselova, Head of Retail at “Colliers Baltics”.
